2010 NYPFF Festival Rules

NYPFF Information & Rules

The third annual New York Peace Film Festival seeks submissions for its mid-March 2010 festival of films.  We actively encourage filmmakers from every corner of the globe to participate.
The mission of the festival is to present films from around the world that advance global peace. Films should not only highlight the advantages of peaceful solutions to international conflicts, but also deal constructively and hopefully with root causes of war and define peace in new or creative ways. Personal and biographical films related to peace issues are eligible. Also of deep interest are films dealing with the proliferation and consequences of nuclear arms and energy.
Films are welcome in the following categories: feature films, documentaries, short films, student films, and animated films. All films must be accessible to an English speaking audience, either as the original language in the film or through the use of sub-titles or dubbing. 
All clearances must be arranged by the filmmaker and the work must be original.  Parental signatures are required for 17 year olds and under. 

Fee Schedule

Standard Submission Fees

Submission fees are based on the film’s length:

Full Length Films (over 1 hour) $40 USD
Short Films (under 1 hour) $30 USD

Early Bird Submissions

For payments received before November 25, 2009, $5 off standard fees.
Full Length Films (over 1 hour) $35 USD
Short Films (under 1 hour) $25 USD

Late Submissions

For payments received after December 10, 2009, add $10 to standard fees.
Full Length Films (over 1 hour) $45 USD
Short Films (under 1 hour) $35 USD

Steps to Successful Submission

Steps to successfully submitting your film:

3. Mail DVD of film to:

If you do not use online submission and payment, don't forget to include your check and completed submission form with your DVD.

Submissions may also take place by snail mail.  Include all the information at left along with DVD of film and payment by check or money order made out to New York Peace Film Festival, and mail to NYPFF, P.O. Box 3810, GCPO, NY, NY 10163.

Click here to pay online or include with your mailied submission materials a check or money order payable to: New York Peace Film Festival.  All payments must be in U.S. dollars.  Submission fees are non-refundable.

Please note that the person submitting films produced by a major studio, or under contract or option, must be legally empowered to give permission to show the film at no cost to New York Peace Film Festival.

Films submitted must have been completed no earlier than July 1, 2006.

The submission deadline is December 10, 2009. All submissions should initially be in DVD-R format and mailed to New York Peace Film Festival (NYPFF), P.O. Box 3810, Grand Central Post Office, New York, NY  10163.  Filmmakers will be notified if their work is chosen by the end of January.

Films will not be returned and we are not responsible for lost or stolen materials. If your film is selected it may be necessary to send a copy of the film in a different format.

A synopsis (50 words maximum) must accompany your submission.
